Annual Special Events

The Payne County Democrats hosts two major fundraising events each year: the Diamond Donkey Gala held each spring and Brayfest each fall.

Diamond Donkey LogoDiamond Donkey Gala takes place each April and is a more formal, celebratory event featuring a guest speaker, live music, delicious food, and a silent auction. The gala aims to celebrate accomplishments and bring Democrats together from across the region and state. Diamond Donkey is our premier fundraising event.

Brayfest is a festive, fall event focused on building community among Democrats. Like Diamond Donkey, Brayfest features live music and delicious food, but this event typically hosts Democrats running for office and is less formal in nature. There is also a raffle showcasing local businesses around Payne County. This is our second major fundraising event of the year.

We always have a presence at the Payne County Fair every year. The Fair is held the last week of August annually. Volunteers staff our table each day of the fair, registering fair-goers to vote, promoting Democratic candidates, and advertising our County Party. This is a great opportunity to show the community that we’re here and we’re strong!

In addition to our own events, we aim to attend as many special events around the county as possible. In 2017, we attended Glencoe’s Independence Day Parade, Perkins-Tyron Schools Teacher Day, Old Settlers’ Day in Perkins, Stillwater Crazy Days Yard Sale, and the Native American Heritage Festival, among others.
