Annual Special Events

The Payne County Democrats hosts two major fundraising events each year: the Diamond Donkey Gala held each spring and Brayfest each fall.

Diamond Donkey Gala takes place each April and is a more formal, celebratory event featuring a guest speaker, live music, delicious food, and a silent auction. The gala aims to celebrate accomplishments and bring Democrats together from across the region.

Brayfest is a festive, fall event focused on building community among  Democrats. Like Diamond Donkey, Brayfest features live music and delicious food, but this event typically hosts Democrats running for office and is less formal in nature. There is also a raffle showcasing local businesses around Payne County.

In addition to our own events, we aim to attend as many special events around the county as possible. In 2017, we attended Glencoe’s Independence Day Parade, Perkins-Tyron Schools Teacher Day, Old Settlers’ Day in Perkins, Stillwater Crazy Days Yard Sale, and the Native American Heritage Festival, among others.
