Med. Marijuana Bill (sb573) still alive!

August 6, 2011, The Democratic Party of Oklahoma passed a resolution  in support of medical marijuana legislation.

Obviously,  many influential Democrats support medical marijuana legislation!

The resolution reads:

  • The Oklahoma Democratic Party supports legislation protecting the doctor patient relationship by allowing medical marijuana with doctor’s recommendation.

Senator Constance Johnson (Oklahoma City, District 48) has introduced an actual medical marijuana bill!

If passed, Senate Bill 573 allows for the medical use of marijuana with a doctor’s recommendation.

The deadline for Senator Constance Johnson’s medical marijuana bill (SB573), to receive a hearing, is the week of Feb. 20, 2012.

If the bill does not receive a hearing, it will simply die in the Health and Human Services Committee.

Next week (Feb. 13-17), all supporters must contact our state Senators and the Chair of the Committee, Sen. Brian Crain, (405) 521-5620, crain@oksenate.gov.

To identify your state senator, call your local “Board of Election/Election Board”, or the State Election Board (405) 521-2391.
You can also find this information online at www.lsb.state.ok.us

Last week a Yukon family went on News 9, OKC to show support for medical marijuana legislation.   The family would like medical marijuana as a treatment option for their autistic child. Many autistic people respond well to medical marijuana. See the video of the News 9 story here.

There is also a statewide medical marijuana campaign (www.OKmedicalmarijuana.org).

Please get involved!

Peace 2 ya,

Jeff Pickens
