Oklahoma Policy Institute’s David Blatt to Address Monthly Meeting

One of the founders of the Oklahoma Policy Institute will be making his presentation on the economic issues affecting Oklahoma during the meeting of the Payne County Democrats this Thursday at 7pm in the PCD headquarters at 302 North Main.

David Blatt served as the organization’s Director of Policy before becoming its Director in 2010. David’s work involves conducting research, writing papers, and giving public presentations on state budget and tax policy, poverty, asset development, and various other subjects.

Recognized as one of the state’s leading experts on fiscal policy and selected as one of the Tulsa World’s five “Oklahomans to Watch” in 2011, David previously served for seven years as Director of Public Policy for Community Action Project of Tulsa County and for three years as a budget analyst for the State Senate. He has a Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University and a B.A. from the University of Alberta. He lives in Tulsa with his wife, Patty Hipsher, a special education teacher at an elementary school in Broken Arrow and their son, Noah.

Launched in early 2008, Oklahoma Policy Institute (OK Policy) states their mission is to provide timely and credible information, analysis and ideas on policy issues affecting Oklahoma.

“Our core commitments are to the adequate, fair and fiscally responsible funding of public services, and to an economy that provides shared prosperity through increased economic opportunity and financial security for all,” The organization states on its website, okpolicy.org. “In our efforts to promote equitable, responsible, and sustainable fiscal and economic policies, OK Policy collaborates with two national networks of state-level policy research organizations, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) and the Economic Analysis and Research Network (EARN).”

Doors open at the Payne County Democratic Headquarters at 6:30pm. The presentation by Blatt begins at 7pm. All members of the public are urged to attend and hear this unique speaker. More info is available online at paynecountydemocrats.org or call 405-533-5310.
